Position: Development Manager
The Development Manager is a position of The Union League Legacy Foundation, the non-profit charity associated with The Union League of Philadelphia. Reporting to the Director of Development and Administration, the Development Manager oversees the day-to-day operations for all development programs, and is responsible for developing and implementing
a comprehensive fundraising plan including annual giving, major gifts, and event fundraising.
Through historic preservation, education, and scholarships, the Legacy Foundation promotes the values
of the Union League to inspire more educated, engaged, and responsible citizens. The Legacy
Foundation presents lectures, exhibits, student programs, and is the steward of the historic Civil War based collection of the League. The Legacy Foundation operates and is located in the Sir John Templeton Heritage Center – a research, exhibit, and programming space, located in The Union League of Philadelphia.
∙ Design and execute an annual giving program. Coordinate annual giving solicitations for targeted constituencies and programs to maximize giving and participation rates
∙ Manage direct mail and e-mail solicitations, including messaging, and supervision of mailing
logistics for annual, special events and planned giving programs.
∙ Prepare and analyze development reports, mechanisms, and systems including ensuring accurate data entry and record keeping to track, monitor, and evaluate all phases of the fundraising plan.
∙ Manage special events fundraising including Golf Outing and two sponsorship programs for
Lincoln Day and Good Citizen Day.
∙ Solicit support for both annual fund and special events.
∙ Create and execute an ongoing donor recognition program.
∙ Assist in the development of marketing and communication plan.
∙ Work with colleagues and volunteer leadership to identify, cultivate and solicit, major, and

∙ Provide administrative and communication support and act as liaison for the Development
∙ Bachelor’s degree required
∙ At least three years work experience in a fundraising position.
∙ Proven success in managing a comprehensive set of development functions, with an emphasis on individual giving.
∙ Goal-oriented and a self-starter looking to grow professionally in the field of fundraising.
∙ Willingness to take initiative.
∙ Excellent office and computer skills, and significant experience with a fundraising database, preferably Donor Perfect.
∙ Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to motivate and build a rapport with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, board, volunteers and donors.
∙ Demonstrated belief in mission and values of the Union League Legacy Foundation.
